Friday: 1pm - 6:30pm
Saturday: 1pm - 6:30pm
Sunday: 10am - 10pm

Who It's For
Actors, singers, and performance teachers. Singers can focus on singing rather than speaking.

Location
Hollywood, California.

Applying for a Space
To apply for a space, use the form on the right. Please include:

  1. Your name

  2. Workshop dates (if you know them)

  3. Your resume, bio, or comparable background information (an imdb or web link is fine). Email this to me if you don't have a link.

  4. Brief statement about why you'd like to do the workshop

  5. How you heard about this work

These workshops are kept small, and they sometimes fill as much as a month in advance.

What's Covered
This intensive introduction helps you free your voice and find greater freedom, power, connection and ease in your work.

Using Fitzmaurice Voicework, we do exercises to free the voice and explore a sense of being vibrantly relaxed. In this part of the work, called Destructuring, we pay particular attention to freeing the breathing and related muscles through bodywork adapted for that purpose.

At a basic level, this part of the work focuses on allowing yourself to be and to breathe. The internal nature of this experience is then shifted to bring you into relationship with others, with the space, and with voice and text.

We also briefly cover the second part of Fitzmaurice Voicework, Structuring. Structuring helps you communicate with greater vocal flexibility, ease, and power, and do so with a greater sense of presence.

Goals
These introductory intensives have four goals:

  • Experience how this work addresses your specific needs.

  • Develop a highly effective vocal warm-up that can become a part of any regular training routine you use.

  • Uncover a deeper experience of the role of breathing in vocal production and in developing greater presence, connection, and spontaneity in your work.

  • Prepare to join ongoing classes held in Los Angeles, if you wish to do so.

Cost
The cost of the workshop is on a sliding scale to accommodate people of different means. The regular cost is $600 and the minimum cost is $300. The amount you pay within that range depends on your ability to pay. It's on the honor system, and it doesn’t require explanation.

Deposit and Refunds
If you are accepted into the workshop, a deposit of $100 is required to reserve a space. The balance is due a week before we start.

If you cancel a week or more before the workshop begins, you will not be responsible for the balance of the workshop fee, and you may apply your deposit to workshops held within the next 12 months.

If you cancel less than one week before the workshop begins, you are responsible to pay the minimum workshop fee (less your deposit). An exception will be offered if you book paid professional performing work during the times of the workshop. In that case, you can use your deposit to attend another introduction anytime during the next twelve months.
