Who It's For:
This workshop is for performers and teachers of performers. Singers can focus on singing rather than talking in this workshop.

What's Covered:
This introduction covers freeing the voice and communicating with greater freedom, power, and ease.

In Fitzmaurice Voicework, Destructuring is the term used for freeing the voice while simultaneously energizing and relaxing the body. We do exercises to explore a sense of being vibrantly relaxed, free from uneccesary tension. In this part of the work we pay particular attention to freeing the breathing and related muscles through bodywork adapted for this purpose.

This workshop also introduces the second part of Fitzmaurice Voicework, Structuring, which helps you communicate with greater vocal power, presence, and flexibility.

The work introduced in this workshop can be explored further in ongoing classes and private coaching.

Goals:
The introductory workshops have four goals:

  • You will learn how this work can address your specific needs.
  • Much of the basic Destructuring sequence is taught as well as an introduction to Structuring. This can be used as a highly effective vocal warm-up and can become a part of any regular training routine you use.
  • You will leave with a new, or deeper, experience of the role of breathing in vocal production and the role of breathing in managing, blocking or opening up to moment-to-moment experience.
  • In most cases the workshop qualifies you to join the ongoing classes held in Los Angeles.

Location:
The introductory workshops are held in Hollywood, California.

Applying for a Space:
Email Saul at VoicecoachLA@aol.com. Indicate that you’d like to attend and include 4 things:

  • your name
  • your resume, bio, or comparable background information (an imdb or web link is fine)
  • a brief statement about why you'd like to do the workshop
  • how you heard about this work

If you are accepted into the workshop, you will be sent additional information along with a short questionnaire about your background and specific needs/interests.

In order to ensure that personal attention is given to every participant, these workshops are kept small. They sometimes fill a month in advance. If you want to be considered for a space, don't wait until the last minute.

Cost, Deposit, and Refunds:
The cost of the introduction is on a sliding scale to accommodate people of different means. The amount you pay within the range below depends on what feels right to you given your financial circumstances, and it doesn’t require explanation. The cost of the workshop can range between $240 - $350.

If you are accepted into the workshop, a deposit of $100 is required to reserve a space. The balance is due at the start of the first day.

If you cancel up to two weeks before the workshop begins, you will not be responsible for the balance of the workshop fees, and you may apply your $100 deposit to future workshops held within the next 12 months.

If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop begins, you are responsible to pay the minimum workshop fee, and you will forfeit your deposit.
